Due to its exceptionally-high melting point, it’s often used for fire stops, fireproofing and other temperature sensitive applications. Industrial Insulation Supplies distributes TOMBO MG brand Rockwool insulation products. Rockwool is the ideal material for residential, industrial, and commercial building insulation.
Rockwool, also known as stone mineral wool, is made from renewable, naturally occurring volcanic rock. Solid rock is melted under intense heat into liquid and spun into extremely fine fibres that are compressed and bonded together.
Rockwool comes in semi-rigid and rigid batts, flexible blankets and preformed pipe sections in densities ranging from 40 to 200 kg/M3. The material is easy to work with if you need to cut it to shape. Tombo Rockwool is tested and compliant with BS476 part 4, AS1530 testing elements non-combustibility and Fire tests on building materials and structures.
All Rockwool products are available in plain, unfaced finish. Some products are also available with factory-applied facings such as foil laminate or galvanised/stainless steel wire mesh. We also stock fire-rated party wall batts and fire damper strip.
Rockwool is predominantly used in steam and condensate hot water piping, silences, boilers, vessels, and other high-temperature applications.
Rockwool insulation provides superior thermal insulation to hot pipework boilers and equipment up to 650* C.
Rockwool is a highly-efficient acoustic insulation that protects against noise pollution.
Tombo Rockwool is a non-combustible material that is fit for use in fire service penetrations.
Rockwool is unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity, and won’t cause or promote corrosion. It is also bio-soluble and non-hazardous.
